In this moon I  have strarted my class in Introduction Literacy.First week I had learnt about:

What is Information Literacy?
Information Literacy is the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information.

Why me should learnt this course?
  • IL skills are the foundation to modern democratic society.
  • To instill effective way of infomation and technology usage for students in their education, word or daily lives.
After this me can knew what does it mean from information literacy

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?







 INFORMATION LITERACY PROCESS FRAMEWORK (Big6)is a six-stage process to help anyone solve problems or make decisions by using information. BIG6 have step must we knew from there step,like this



STEP 1: TASK DEFINITION
- Define the information problem
- Identify information needed
- Develop questions or create inquire (Learning what makes a good research question*. With teacher guidance depending on grade level.
 
 STEP 2: INFORMATION SEEKING STRATEGIES
-Determine all possible sources
  • Use a variety of resources: books, eBooks, magazines, newspaper articles, database articles, online encyclopedia, other web resources (both print and online)
  • Use keywords and subjects
  • Use the NSD Research wiki
-Select the best sources
  • Identify criteria for determining quality of source: accuracy, bias, currency (ABC Method)
  • Distinguish between reliable and unsubstantiated information on the Internet
 STEP 3: LOCATION AND ACCESS
- Locate sources (intellectually and physically)
- Find information within sources
- Collect information for the citation
 STEP 4: INFORMATION USE
- Engage (e.g., read, hear, view, touch)
- Extract relevant information
  • Use keywords and subjects
  • Use a variety of resource : books, magazines, databases, online catalog, online encyclopedia, other web resources (print and online)
  • Identify criteria for determining quality of source: accuracy, bias, currency (ABC Method)
  • Distinguish between reliable and unsubstantiated information on the Internet
- Reflect on Findings
 
STEP 5: SYNTHESIS
- Organize from multiple sources
- Draw sound conclusions
- Present the information or create a product

- Compile a "Works Cited" page using MLA 7th ed. - Bibliographic Citation

STEP 6: EVALUATION PROCESS
- Judge the product (effectiveness)
- Judge the process (efficiency)
